Are there ingroups and outgroups in a workplace?

  1. An ingroup is when one is a member of a social group and identifies with them. An outgroup is when one does not identify with the group like an outcast. Ingroup bias is favoring the members of the ingroup leaving out the outgroup. Outgroup bias is having negative views about someone who does not belong in their group. It is possible for their to be these type of groups. For example if their is a new worker then the people in the ingroup may not be so welcoming to them They will be alone and feel like they cannot join the group. So they would e a part of the outgroup. The ingroup members are favored and the ones in the outgroup are isolated.
